A resident at Hong Kong - Mr. Du, was playing a game (Love of Machine) on his Galaxy S4 when it got over heated and then it exploded.
As soon as the device exploded Mr. Du throwed the device away from him which fell at his couch causing the sofa to catch fire, apparently it lead the fire to burn down the apartment. This fire also spread to his Mercedes too, Mr. Du claimed. During this incident, Mr. Du and his wife however managed to escape from the apartment safely with only minor injuries.
According to him, he always used the legitimate Samsung battery and he only used legitimate Samsung charger to charge it.
Firefighters immediately rushed towards the affected apartment and it took them over 30 mins to stop the blazing fire. Fire investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was not due to suspicious circumstances, but the S4 has been completely damaged and almost all of the house valuables have been destroyed (including the house itself).
Already there has been quite a few cases already of Samsung Galaxy S4 getting over-heated and exploding in past which was caused due to customer's use of fake parts (such as batteries, chargers etc.,) for their devices.
Samsung Hong Kong has announced that it will be looking into this matter and chemical analysis of the charred remains should establish if it really came from Samsung factory, the report claimed.
