Volvo an Swedish luxury car maker on June 15 2013 launched V40 Cross Country priced at Rs. 28.5 lakhs ($48,563) ex-showroom Delhi.
Volvo plans to increase sales in India around 50% this year to 1,200 units. Volvo Auto India teamed-up with Bajaj Allianz for vehicle insurance in the country.
Tomas Emberg Managing director at Volvo Auto India said to the reporters, "The car will bring in new impetus to our growth strategy in India. So far we have bookings of about 70 units and our target is to sell about 120 units this year."

He also said that the company will have new model launches of Sedan S60 and SUV XC60 in October. He claimed that the company sold 800 units and now targets to sell 1,100 to 1,200 units this year.
The V40 will take on BMW's X1 which is price at Rs 27.9 lakh and Rs. 32.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The V40 Cross Country is powered by 2 liter, 5 cylinder diesel engine and with the mielage of over 16 kmpl, the company claimed.
When asked if the company plans to start assembling its vehicle in India, he said, "We will continue to import completely built units. Yes, in the long run we would need to assemble here."
