Nvidia today officially launched it's Shield (gaming console) based on Android OS for $299 (Rs. 18,128) available on their to site and newegg.com for purchase. People who lives at West Coast, Central US, East Coast and Canada region can experience SHIELD at GameStop, Micro Center and Canada Computers before they make a purchase.
Nvidia shield supports both Android based games and PC games (still in beta) on it.
Nvidia Shield sports a 5 inch HD (720p) Multi-touch Retinal display with resolution of 1280x720p (294ppi), powered by Nvidia's own Tegra 4 Quad-Core mobile processor with 2 GB of RAM. It comes with 16 GB of internal storage support (expandable but not specified). Shield runs on latest Stock Android Jelly Bean OS.
Regarding connectivity it has - 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack with built-in microphone, MicroUSB 2.0, Mini-HDMI output, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11n 2x2 Mimo. It comes pre-loaded with applications and two games - Google Play, TegraZone, Hulu Plus, Twitch TV, Sonic 4 Episode II THD and Expendable : Rearmed. It weights 579 grams and it's dimensions are 158mm (w) x 135mm (D) x 57mm (H).
There's also a couple of sensors called 3 Axis Gyro and 3 Axis Accelerometer.
Nvidia Shield comes with Input controls such as - Dual analog joysticks, D-pad, Left/Right analog triggers, Left/Right bumpers, A/B/X/Y buttons, Volume control, Android Home and back buttons, Start button and Nvidia power/multi-function button.
